February isn’t such a good month for us especially since we have El Nino. Water supply is less and it seems we’ve been getting black outs every now and then. March is coming soon and we’re expecting intense heat especially since summer is starting. I really need to get an air-conditioning unit for my room because summer will be unbearable if El Nino continues. My two younger siblings will have their normal summer vacation but my third sibling who’s taking up nursing will be busy with school and duties. She’s been spending a lot of time with her class mates and duty group because their CI’s have been expecting lots of input from them. I even saw her researching about treatments for eczema the other day. Then today she was studying about pregnant patients, it seems they’ll be moving to the maternity ward for their next duty. I don’t know how nursing students manage to do all the things required from them. I don’t think I have the guts to do what they do.
Chronicles of Nika
Nika’s bumpy but worth it journey on finding herself.
MMX babies.
I think a lot of my friends are having babies this year. Some have already started their baby girl announcements and that means I need to keep some money for baby showers and baptisms as early as possible. You can’t really say no when a friend asks you to be their baby’s godparent. It just gets harder during Christmas, since you get lots of tots lining for their gifts. xD Even if it can get expensive, I wouldn’t say no. Its quite nice to know that your friends trust you that much that they are entrusting their child under your care if something happens to them.
Lines.
One of the supermarkets here needs some new POS systems. I think it will help speed their lines up. All Saint’s (or is it Soul’s) Day is fast approaching so lines on the rgoceries are starting to get longer. Everyone’s trying to stock up for the long weekend. With all these lines, I’m scared to think how much longer the lines would be for Christmas.
Finding a place to live in Manila can be a daunting task.
We need websites that show an updated listing of apartments for rent in the country (per region or city at least). When I was looking for a good place to rent in Manila, I kept getting outdated listings from the usual places that comes up when you search apartment for rent in Manila or other phrases to that effect.
Good thing my sister found a good place to rent in Boni. Its very accessible, secure and comfortable to live in. It will certainly make things easier for me when I start applying for work in Manila if I choose to work there and not here in Batangas.
Off to Bataan tomorrow.
I’m off to Bataan tomorrow for a tree-planting activity with learning communities 2 and 3, as well as our professor Bro. Armin and Sir Lysander. We’ve been told that the bus would leave the school at 6:30 am so we have to assemble around 6:00 am. After the tree-planting activity, we might go to Mt. Samat so i might be able to get some pictures with my old digicam. I love my worn out canon. xD
I just hope my arm doesn’t give me hell tomorrow. I fell down the stairs earlier (before I posted this) and it seriously hurts. >.< I have some salompas plastered all over my left arm which I hope will help ease the pain by tomorrow morning. I'm in Batangas right now so I'll be leaving tomorrow around 3:30-4:00 am. T_T I'm hoping there will be no storms tomorrow. Its hard to plant trees if you're stuck on mud.
I'm off to pack my pail, shovel and other stuffs. >.< Bagac, Bataan, here I come!
Goodbye summer, Hello cold weather.
At least that’s how it feels like here in Batangas. Seriously. Its way colder right now than it was last December. Mom also just informed me that the weather news said five storms are coming. O.o Looks like I really won’t be heading to Puerto. My parents let me go anywhere I want as long as its safe, treading on stormy seas isn’t. xD Plus I have a little bit fear of traveling over large bodies of water. Must’ve been caused by that time when I almost drowned when I was a little kid. Heh.
I’m not going to lie and say I’m not happy that its raining right now. I enjoy the cold weather because I sleep comfortably tucked between layers of blankets and pillows. I hated how hot it was back in March and early April because it was making my headaches worse. Cold weather doesn’t give me headaches and when I do get them its milder. I just hope its not this wet when classes start. I commute from Batangas to Buendia each day I have class and my classes start at 8 am. So I have to leave really early to come to school on time, I basically wake up at 3-3:30 am, take a shower, get dressed then leave our house around 4-4:30 am. It gets harder to commute when it rains and I especially don’t like it when it happens on Mondays.
I might go to Rob tomorrow if the weather isn’t too bad. I want to browse over some stuff at BookSale. I might be able to bump over some back issues of Paula Deen’s magazines.
Sleepy summer.
Since the summer heat started, everyone at home has been so lethargic. >.< We wake up late and we really don't feel like doing anything. The only days I wake up early is when I have classes. The rest of the week, I wake up when its about lunch time. Even my new puppy, Coco, is sleeping on his butt all the time. Even if we call him to play, he'd simply open one of his eyes, peek at me, then close it again and then get back to sleeping.
I'm the person who doesn't like summer much. I don't like going out and staying under the sun. I prefer staying inside and warding off the intense heat of summer. Unless its a mountainous place (with lush trees and a waterfall or even a small brook) that were going to, you won't be able to get me outdoors for a vacation. I like the sun, but I don't like getting my skin burned under it. >.<
Pacquiao vs Hatton postponed. Again?
Oh well, I just saw in the Manila Times that Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton’s fight might not push through again. They’re still fighting over the split with Manny wanting a larger split. Oh well, I think the saying that goes like “Once you get what you desire, you don’t end up satisfied, instead you start reaching for an even bigger desire…” rings true for this case. The fight with Hatton might not push through but according to the news and other blogs it seems Manny’s camp is talking with Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a possible fight.
Maybe their just building anticipation for the viewers, maybe its a psychological tactic to get more people to watch the fight or maybe not. Lol.
Manny Pacquiao versus Ricky Hatton fight in 2009
Well I was reading the newspaper yesterday or was it the other day and I saw that the boxing fight between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton will be pushing through at the 50-50 profit split. It was said that initially Manny Pacquiao wanted to pull out because he wanted a 60-40 split, but he decided to push through with the 50-50 split when it was explained to him that it would include the UK pay-per-view profits. Oh well, it doesn’t really matter much to me. I just like sitting and watching with my family when a Pacquiao fight is on each year.
Its quite fun to watch although its a little bit disturbing especially when some messages circulated around the internet and text messages after Manny’s last fight. Someone mentioned that every time Pacquiao has a fight and wins it, someone well-known in our country dies. It might simply be a coincidence but its eerie nonetheless. Made me remember the movie my sister and I watched earlier on HBO. I think the title is “Stay Alive” because it was the game the characters in the movie were playing. It was really eerie because the gamers were dying in reality the same way they died on the game. Oh well, good thing I watched it in daytime.
By the way, talking about Pacquiao made me remember General Santos and the canned tuna and wildfang we were given last Christmas. I loved them although its quite disappointing that they are not sold in the country because they are exclusively for export in the UK as well as Denmark (or was it Norway). The tuna one was preserved in sunflower oil, the wildfang one I forgot. Seriously, they’re delicious. I’d really buy them if they were available on the local market.
