Looking up products online before purchasing?

Do you look up products online before you purchase them from a store? I do. I know that there are a ton of reviews that show up when you load up the product’s name in Google or other search engines but I try to weed out both good and bad reviews to weigh the pros and cons. I rarely buy things on shops now without checking reviews online first. It really helps to know what to expect when you buy something.

I know I’ve read a ton of review that deals with weight loss. Some people look for bodybuilding supplements reviews, electronic product reviews, restaurant experiences and others look for specific product reviews like vicerex reviews, glutathione reviews, beauty product reviews and so on.

What products do you lookup online before purchasing?

I currently share a room with my 4 siblings (technically 3 since one of my sisters only visit every other week since she works in alabang) and decorating the room is a huge task. Since I’m the eldest, my decisions weigh more than what they want so I have full discretion on how our room will look like. Since we’re getting an AC soon, we need beddings that will match well with the curtains we bought. I prefer neutral and calming colors so I decided to search online for inspiration. I found peacock alley bedding and found a couple of designs I liked. I really loved the Tivoli and Marcella, and the Corsica design looked really nice too. Since they ship internationally, I can order there or I can just ask our relatives to order it and have them ship it to us through a Balikbayan box.

November has been a really slow month for me. I got sick with flu for a week and then I started getting really lethargic after. The month got better during Black Friday since I was able to pickup a couple of great deals like four $0.99 domains and $1 MaxCDN subscription. I did have to stay up for $36 hours since I’m on a different timezone but it was worth it. I’m planning on staying up again later to catch one more $0.99 domain from NameCheap’s Cyber Monday deals. Who knows I might also find some other deals like for Web-Est.com auto estimating software or if I have enough funds, maybe a HostGator account.

Watching movies at home now.

I haven’t really watched movies in theaters since DVDs and torrents. I only go to the cinema for local movies that isn’t usually available in DVD and torrents. The last time I went to the cinema was during my dinner and movie date with my siblings for the first part of Harry Potter 7. The other time I went for a movie in a theater before that was with my bestfriend and we watched The Guardian, which starred Ashton Kutcher and Kevn Costner.

We’re shopping around for speakers that we can use for our movie nights. There are lots of choices online like the Energy speakers which seems like a good one to get since our main purpose for the speakers would be movie screening. I’m just not sure if there’s a local store selling it. I’ve been searching for good brands and products online so I have a good list with me when we go speaker hunting on our local malls.

Gifts for hubbies.

I had a chat with my married friends the other day and one of the topics that came up was about hubby gifts. Some suggested power tools since they have hubbies who loves them, while some said golf clubs, sports tickets and bbq grills are also good ideas if you have a big budget.

However if you’re a bit tight for cash when gifting time arrives, Anne suggested hand-dipped football berries as a good romantic birthday gift for your husband (or possibly other sports-themed hand-dipped fruits). I don’t think your hubby would complain too much if you get to spend a little lovey-dovey time to enjoy your hand-dipped gift with a glass of wine while seated on a soft blanket beside the fireplace.

May Birthdays and Gifts

The month of May is a month of celebration for our family. Two of our family members are celebrating their birthdays this month, namely my sister and my Dad. My sister will be at work during her birthday so we’ll probably hold their birthday celebrations the same time.

We also have tons of family friends who’ll be celebrating their birthdays in the coming weeks. I still need to get some gifts for some of them like football gifts but for Dad, it has to be something related to basketball. Maybe I’ll have enough funds before his birthday to get the NBA subscription he wants.

My Birthday Gift.

I know what I want to gift myself for my birthday this year. I want to get myself a personalized silver heart keychain as a symbol of self-acceptance and appreciation. I haven’t been really taking care of myself the past few years. Although I have the means, I always chose to spend money on other things and other people, thinking I don’t need to splurge on gifts for me. Lately I realized that although it is good to always give to others, I also need to take care of me. If I don’t feel like I love myself, how can I love others fully?

I’ve realized that I can buy things for myself and not feel guilty about it.

Time to save up for a new camera.

I’m planning to get myself a new camera a couple of months from now. I wasn’t able to buy the LX3 I wanted before because I had to use the money I saved up for our expenses. I’m currently using our family’s Samsung point and shoot but I would like to get myself a good dlsr if possible.

I’m torn between Nikon and Canon since the price difference between them is relatively close. I’ve been a Canon girl, even back when we still had to use film to take pictures. My first digital camera was a Canon IXUS and I’m used to Canon printers. I haven’t fully decided which to choose so I’m looking over camera reviews to find the best camera that fits my needs and my budget.

Books & Boxes.

I hope the shipping box Amazon used for my books is sturdy. I want to get my books in pristine condition. Hopefully it would arrive on time on December 4th without custom duties. The shipping cost a bit expensive already, I hope the custom duties would just be around P20 or so. I still have to decide whether I should order the boxes I want from RFM for the coming holidays. Though it would cost me around 3k to get the boxes, holders, cups and ribbons.

Kettlebells?

Has anyone seen those Kettlebells? I don’t think I’ve seen them yet locally. I rarely get interested on fitness equipment unless they’re threadmills, but these ones look cute. Maybe I can try them if they get to the local malls, usually near the appliance centers or HandyMan where those “As Seen on TV” stalls are located. I think someone I know would like that as a gift.
